Save the Bees Otomi Coloring book PDF with proceeds going to our Bee Conservation project
This 16 page digital coloring book has been under construction for close to 6 months! All handdrawn! Many thanks to my co-illustrator Calixto Perez! We only filled in digital color as an example. There are 16 pages of line drawings. Can be printed in eco friendly paper or art cardstock. Whatever your heart desires and printer can handle.
This process has been arduous, yet rewarding! SOOO many bees to color and lots of fanciful Otomi critters to play with.
All of the proceeds will go to our Bee conservation project nestled in the mountains of Southern Oaxaca.
If you are an educator and would like a PDF file of my coloring book for your classroom, please private message me with your story. Let me know a little something about yourself and your future bee keepers. Together we can take this crisis!
A little tid bit from our bee site------------------
Name is Abel Chavez and I am excited to share my project with you. I share my love of bees and coffee with my cuter half Sandra Renteria. When we aren't saving bees we are buried in indigenous textile design work. www.CasaOtomi.com and
Sandra and I currently live in Coyoacan, the home of Frida Kahlo. From here we are able to make a stronger difference in my community than we could on the ground at the coffee farm. Sandra is the "English" bee voice and I am the "Spanish" bee one. Together we make one huge bilingual bee megaphone.
There are many theories about the disappearance of the bees. The use of pesticides seems to coincide most with what is happening at our farm. Yields dropped as soon as farmers started spraying their maize fields. No one put the two together. Talking to family and friends is a delicate situation. We want to encourage "Organic" farming more than we want to discourage "Chemical" farming. It's a finesse in the way we approach "going back to the old ways." We gave a natural pesticide solution on our last visit. It was well received. I was excited about the results. We need to continue visiting all the farmers and donating our "Organic formulas" in order to help the plight of the bees. Taking gallons of vinegar to a remote location isn't exactly easy. It's a 30 hour journey for us. 2 taxis, 3 bus transfer and a 5 hour leg on the back of a small Nissan truck on dirt roads. Not for the faint hearted. We are up for the challenge...but we need help. If you would like to help please go to our "give us a buzz" page.
We are looking forward to hearing from you!
